Daniel Vander Kooi

Daniel started his insurance career in 2010 after spending the prior 8 years as a Youth Pastor in Lynden, WA. Laid back, down to earth and someone who just simply does the right thing is a way people describe Daniel. Daniel loves spending time with his wife and three kids. You can often find him out in the yard playing whiffle ball with his kids or at a local school coaching Baseball. He is an avid Seattle sports fan with a deep-rooted love for “HIS” Seattle Mariners. He also spends a lot of time working with Eagles Nest International in Guatemala where he currently serves as the Board President. Eagles Nest is an orphanage, feeding center and school that serves over 300 children on a daily basis.

Tana Fakkema

Tana started with Manna Insurance in January of 2016. She graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting in 2009. She began her career in the California Central Valley where she worked primarily in the Agriculture industry. After 5 years Tana and her husband Chad returned to their home town to raise their kids closer to family. Tana enjoys spending time with her husband and her 4 kids Bekkem, Kasen, Aviley and Duke. She enjoys traveling with her family and exploring God’s beauty in the Pacific Northwest. She enjoys being part of this wonderful company and can’t wait to see what God has in store for the years to come.

Nate started with Manna Insurance Group in 2016, after being the Senior Estimator with Lynden Door since 2007. His primary goal with Manna is to come alongside others in the community to help and support them with their insurance needs. Nate enjoys spending time with his wife & three daughters Emma, Kyra & Audra. He also loves camping, BBQ’s, and getting together for sporting events with friends and family.

Kailey began her insurance career in May 2015, while receiving her degree in Business Administration with focuses in Marketing and Finance from Seattle Pacific University. Kailey’s favorite aspect of the job is being able to work with customers and businesses to make their insurance needs a simple and easy process. Kailey grew up in Lynden, where she met her husband, Ryan. They have 3 kiddos- Griffin, Crew and Tye. In her free time, she loves being with family, attending Seahawks games, or any sporting event. She looks forward to growing deep, meaningful relationships within the community!

Ben graduated from Central Washington University in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Finance and started his insurance career in June 2003. In May 2005, he began his career as a Medical Insurance Specialist, and was excited for the opportunity to come alongside Manna Insurance in April of 2019. Ben enjoys spending time with his wife Amy, and their three children, Taryn, Kellen, and Talen. You can usually find him in a gym or on a field of some kind watching them play sports or in the dugout coaching. Ben is looking forward to the next chapter in his life and creating new relationships working at Manna, while maintaining the relationships he has established throughout the years.

My greatest blessing is being a father to three incredible children, Kyla, Lucas, and Trey. My passion is simply helping and serving people. It is within this passion that I was a local associate pastor for twelve years. My other passion is sports. In the falls, you will find me roaming the sideline and practice fields at Lynden High School, where I have been an assistant football coach for thirteen years. Above all, my identity however, is found in Jesus Christ, who saved me from myself, and pours grace and mercy on me each and every day.

In her free time, Nancy enjoys spending time with her two daughters and their families and trying to keep up with her five grandkids. She also enjoys working out with her morning gals at Homestead. Also, Nancy enjoys watching high school volleyball and being the libero tracker for the Lynden High School volleyball team. In her free time, she enjoys reading and gardening.

Belle was born and raised in Lynden. She went to Central Washington University and played volleyball where she received a Bachelor of Science in Law and Justice. When she is not working, you can find Belle coaching volleyball, working on her family’s property, baking cheesecakes, or playing with her two nephews. Jon Fox
AGRICULTURE & FARM INSURANCE SPECIALIST

Jon Fox brings nearly 30 years of hands on agriculture experience to Manna, with a career deeply rooted in the dairy industry. He has spent decades working alongside farm families on parlor design, robotic milking systems, cow flow, ventilation, cooling, and other critical equipment that must perform every day because in agriculture, downtime simply is not an option. Raised around dairy and beef farms, Jon understands that farming is more than a business, it is stewardship. He has witnessed generations build, transition, and carry on farm legacies, and he knows how much is at stake when something goes wrong.
Today, Jon serves the agricultural community through insurance, using his industry knowledge to help farmers protect their operations, their people, and their future. His approach is built on integrity, strong relationships, and boots on the ground service, making sure coverage is structured to work when it matters most.
Faith and family are central to Jon’s life. He and his wife, Shelli, stay busy raising their seven kids while actively serving and supporting their community. When they can get away, you will often find them camping, trail riding, or heading into the mountains on pack trips with their horses.

Leonard Smit

Leonard is a 1992 graduate of Central Washington University and began his insurance career in 1998. After spending nine years as a captive agent, Leonard opened his own independent agency in 2008. The agency merged with Oltman Insurance in July, 2014 where he was one of the managing partners. Leonard joined Manna insurance in May of 2026 and is excited to continue to serve clients in a personal manner.
Leonard grew up on a dairy farm near Ferndale in Whatcom County. He is licensed in all lines of insurance with specialization in Farm and Crop Insurance.
Leonard enjoys spending time with his family, as well as umpiring fastpitch softball to stay involved in the community. He has served on a local school board as well as church boards. He and his wife Kim are nearly empty nesters and reside near Sumas.

Shari has been in the insurance industry for over 30 years, all while working at Oltman Insurance Agency. She started part time while in high school and then continued full time after graduating. She enjoyed working briefly under her Grandfather, Alvin Stauffer and then her Mother, Ann Medina. After Ann’s retirement in 2019, Shari took over Ann’s client book and enjoys being able to update her clients regularly with Ann’s whereabouts!
Shari currently resides in Ferndale with her husband and daughter on a Dairy Farm. During her free time she can be found helping feed calves, working in her yard or reading a good book. Mostly she enjoys spending time with her family including her husband and daughter, two married daughters, their husbands and their new granddaughter!
